I have recently been invited to work on a really exiting project with the Greater Morpeth Development Trust to help them to create an interesting and engaging signage and interpretation trail along the 3.5km foot path that runs from the bottom of the Whorral Bank just outside Morpeth to the saw mill at Bothal.
The plan is to create a kind of treasure trail of found objects in the form of small paintings and sculptures that will hold information about the site, the environment and the heritage. We want to draw on local history, stories and experiences as well as the imaginations of local children and interested members of the community. Our first task is to gather together all the information, images and ideas about the site we can find. We would like anyone who has used this site recently or in the past to get in touch to tell us their stories and memories of the place.
Firstly I would like to take you on a pictorial trek of the site which identifies the spots I think would be good for works to go and the important sights and scenes along the way, see the home page for the treasure trail blog.
